CALL FOR ENTRY – APPLICATION & GUIDELINES
PLEASE NOTE: First Nations Film and Video Festival (FNFVF) considers “Native American, American Indian,
Indigenous American” to include all indigenous peoples of the Americas. This includes North American Indian
(including Canada), Alaska Native, Hawaiian Native, and well as people from the indigenous tribes of Central
and South America.
Qualifying Entries
Film and video will be accepted from Indigenous American individuals who have written, produced, and/or
directed the film or video being submitted. Preference will be given to independent projects for which the
applicant has primary creative control. In order to protect First Nation first-voice, the person with primary
creative control must be of Native heritage or an enrolled member of a tribal nation. (Primary Creative
Control means having control over imagery, message, theme, editing, and/or overall control over the general
look of the piece, where a singular voice can be determined from the aesthetics of the piece. Pieces with Native
"Consultants" or "Inspiration" will not be accepted.)
Public service announcements, training materials, or promotional (PR) works will not be considered.
Entry Fees:
The entry is $0.00 US. (Free!)
Deadline:
HAS PASSED.
NOTE: This is a postmark date. Any submission with a postmark date AFTER
September 1st will be returned. Disregard date on application!
Submission Formats:
Preview Formats – VHS tape and DVD (including DVD-R, DVD+R, or any type of recordable DVD format) will be
acceptable.
Screening format – Please NOTE: Due to technical difficulties, we are no longer accepting recordable DVD’s for
festival screening (DVD-R, DVD+R). Please submit your film/video on professional grade DVD (Silver disc), or
high-quality VHS (Recommended). Please send along screening copy by October 31 if accepted.
Judging:
All entries will be viewed by the FNFVF Executive Committee.
